Case – Sustainability sprint – Van Oord
The IT department of a leading international dredging company, based in the Netherlands wanted to contribute to being more sustainable as part of corporate sustainability objectives. The CIO supported the idea and asked: what do you need? And then it became silent, they didn’t know.
When Qhuba talked to the management of the IT department, soon there was a clear and tangible objective: ‘’The IT department of the Dredging company wanted to be carbon neutral and circular by 2025’’.
Time for Qhuba to enable participants to simplify their thinking about how to define and realize the sustainability ambitions of the department.
We provided a five half-days sustainability workshops, divided over a few weeks based on the simplicity scan [link]. Each session consisted of a combination of inspirational speakers on sustainability, instructions from the facilitators, individual and peer work based on the sustainability scan, and team engagement to achieve agreed alignment.
The outcome was a jointly developed roadmap that detailed which tangible steps the team has to focus on to achieve their goal and to accelerate their performance Building blocks to get to that result were a documented scan of the current situation with regards to sustainability, a comprehensive list of opportunities and a highly motivated team, ready to put the plan into reality.
A quote from one of the participants: ‘’So great that you were FACILITATING great things, thank you!’’
